According to Sports Illustrated’s Peter King (via Matt Miller), linebacker Manti Te’o best chances at getting on a good team in the NFL end with the Bengals with the 21st overall selection in the 2013 NFL draft.
Te’o didn’t impress like he wanted to during the combine running a slow 4.82 40-yard dash. But the fact remains that Te’o played first-round pick football during the season.
The world knows that the story of his fake girlfriend will forever be in his shadow and that may have distracted him during play. It may have distracted him during the combine as well.
NFL anaylsts have been trying to predict where Te’o may land. NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah recently put Te’o with the Ravens who have the 32nd overall selection. Some say he could go as high as No. 17 to the Steelers. But the Bengals have had a lot of success taking chances with some players including Vontaze Burfict last year. Head coach Marvin Lewis could team Te’o and Burfict up for deadly duo in the linebacker rotation.
