Xavier, Dayton renew intense rivalry

The Dayton Flyers and the Xavier Musketeers look to gain ground in the Atlantic-10 as they square off for a conference matchup from the Cintas Center.

Dayton has countered their 0-3 start in A-10 conference play with two straight victories over Fordham and Duquesne.  The Flyers 2-3 conference record does not reflect how well they have played this season as their 3 losses came against tough teams in nationally ranked Butler, VCU, and La Salle.  The Flyers past two victories has come by an average of 30.5 points, as they blew out Fordham and Duquesne who is in the bottom tier in the Atlantic-10 standings.  Last game, Dayton had five players that scored double figures in the win over Duquesne, as Kevin Dillard and Georgetown transfer Vee Sanford lead the team this season with 15 and 13 points per game.  Dayton averages 73 points per game on 46 percent shooting as a team, while adding 36 rebounds and 14.7 assists per game.

Xavier opened A-10 Conference play with a stellar 4 game winning streak over Temple, GW, St. Bonaventure, and La Salle.  The Musketeers lost their past two road games to Charlotte and St. Josephs dropping their record to 4-2 in the A-10 standings.  Last game versus St. Joes, the Musketeers struggled making shots as they went 34 percent from the field, and only 1-13 from three point range.  The Musketeers were held scoreless in the final 5 minutes of the game as their scoring drought helped St. Joes escape with the victory.  Semaj Christon continued to play well as he dropped 16 points in the loss.  Xavier averages 64 points, 35 rebounds, and 11.7 assists per game while shooting 46 percent from field goal range.
